I created Lobster Quadrille in my Poster Design class in college. To create the colorful image, I used the original illustration from the book done by Sir John Tenniel and added in the over-the-top colors to the image with a plain beige background. At some point, I would love to return to this project and create more of these hybrid illustrations.
If you are unfamiliar with the scene (it does not appear in either of the Disney adaptations of the book), Alice is taken by a Gryphon to hear the Mock Turtle's story. And of course there's a sad song/poem called the Lobster Quadrille. Franz Ferdinand has an excellent version of the song that I recommend.
