This Napoleon study was my first oil painting ever. I completed it during the SOfIA (Summer Opportunities for Intellectual Activities) program the August before my freshman year of college. The painting is a study (attempted copy of a master painter's work) of Jean Jacques David's Napoleon paintings. Jean Jacques David was a famous painter during Napoleon's reign and had completed many paintings of the monarch.
The painting in full contained this version of Napoleon and a closer up detail version right next to it. I cut the painting down and framed this portion.
