Watering Fake Flowers #1
"Watering Fake Flowers #1" is a 10"x24" oil painting on canvas framed in a black wooden floating frame measuring 12"x26". There is a hanging wire on the back.
Once upon a time, I read a post that said "stop watering dead plants." It struck me. I took a screenshot and saved it in my phone. It was a reminder to stop pouring time, energy, and attention into those things that are dead, done, over with. It got me thinking: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What about the fake plants? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I once had a friend accidentally water a fake plant for months. He bought it in the same section of a store where he had previously purchased a real plant, and he hadn't realized that this one was fake until someone pointed it out to him months later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think we sometimes do the same thing with people, opportunities, and situations. We water these "fake flowers" because we don't realize that they aren't real. Or worse yet, we do realize and somehow still (maybe foolishly) hope that they will become real with enough watering. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Appreciate their beauty, but please stop watering fake flowers. ⠀⠀
