Sassy Girl is a 20"x24" oil painting on canvas framed in a black wooden floating frame measuring 22"x26". There is a hanging wire on the back.
Sassy Girl is inspired by my aunt who passed away. The drawn motif is something that she used to doodle on the score sheet whenever we would play cards or dominoes. I loved to watch her while she would work on it. The color scheme is also reminiscent of her. There's something beautiful warm and autumnal about the mixing of green and orange and gold. It feels inviting and cozy.
My aunt always used to call my sister and me "sassy girls" in a joking way. And whenever she would tell us to be good, we responded that we didn't know how. I am so proud to have grown into a grown woman who chooses to not always listen to the rules of society and the image that other people want me to be. I don't behave. I have stayed that sassy girl, and I would like to think that she would be proud of me.
