"One of the interesting things that happens with an old home (maybe all homes, but I am speaking from my experience) is that nothing is the project “as assigned”. There’s always a side quest that I didn’t know about that needs to get done first before you can tackle the project. And I’m never quite sure what that side quest is going to be until I start the project (did you hear about my flooring project??).
For example: my kitchen faucet needs a replacement valve. Easy peasy. Honestly, it's kind of needed one since I moved in almost four years ago, but we’re finally reaching the point where I feel like I should replace it. But now we discovered that the valves under the sink to turn the water off don’t work - one sprays water when being turned and the other doesn’t turn. So now this easy project is a project that now requires turning off the water to the whole house and replacing those other valves before we replace the valve in the faucet. It’s a whole thing." |
"I dreamed of growing up to be an Olympic swimmer. Mind you - at that point in time, I had never taken a swim lesson nor could I swim. But logistics don’t stop the dreams of a child.
So what happened to this particular dream?
Well, I got a “close enough”.
I have to tell you that I am NOT an Olympic Swimmer. Not even remotely. I can barely swim. I mostly know how to not drown, and even that is questionable at times."

"The other day while I was driving, there was a tree actively losing leaves and the breeze was catching them just enough. It looked like Mother Nature was throwing confetti to celebrate this season of change.
It’s weird to think that the county I live in is considered “fading peak” right now for fall colors because when I look out the window, the big tree in my backyard is still very green and full of leaves. She’s a little bit behind the rest of the trees in the area, and she stands as a reminder that we’re all on our own journey and our own timeframe. Just because everyone else around you is changing colors and getting ready for winter doesn’t mean it’s the right time for you. You do you. This is your journey." |
